What Is Bleed through? This results from the top layer of paint (clear coat) that is to thin and base coat color (blue) starts to appear on cutting pad this area can not take color sanding. Wet sanding thin clear coat will burn through the clear coat resulting in a dull flat blue color the base coat.
Clear coat is responsible for luster and shine on two stage paint systems. Without proper paint maintenance and surface prep paint contamination will cause premature clear coat paint failure. This resulting in dull white washed out paint known as oxidation and clear coat flaking.
Oxidation on clear coat can not be repaired if at least 1.9 mills of clear coat is available for cutting and raking. If clear coat is flaking this can not be repaired repaint is the only method for paint repair.
